Bantahan Anonymous Terhadap Kasus Pembobolan Stratfor
Baru-baru ini dunia sekuritas internet kembali dihebohkan oleh kasus pembobolan, atau yang disebut dengan cracking. Adalah Stratfor, sebuah perusahan yang bergerak dibidang keamanan dan rahasia internet yang kali ini menjadi korbannya. Chief Executive Stratfor George Friedman menegaskan bahwa situs mereka memang telah dibajak peretas.
Stratfor merupakan perusahan dengan klien yang tidak bisa dianggap sepele kerahasiaannya, sebut saja US Defense Department, US Army, Air Force, lembaga penegak hukum, kontraktor keamanan, dan perusahaan teknologi terkemuka seperti Apple dan Microsoft.
Peretas berhasil mencuri informasi kartu kredit, termasuk password, dan alamat rumah sekitar 4.000 klien Stratfor. Dengat data spesifik :
- 50.277 nomor kartu kredit, 9,651 di antaranya masih bisa digunakan.
- 86.594 alamat e-mail.
- 27.537 nomor telepon.
- 44.188 password yang terenkripsi, 50% di antaranya dapat dengan mudah didekripsi.
Yang sedikit menarik adalah hasil pembajakan katu kredit disumbangkan kepada lembaga sosial, seperti palang merah. Yang lebih menarik lainnya adalah ketika kelompok peretas Anonymous dikait-kaitkan dengan kasus pembobolan ini. Melalui situs Pastebin, Anonymous telah menulis press release yang isinya menyatakan bahwa pelaku pembajakan tersebut bukanlah kelompok Anonymous. “Sebagai media source, Stratfor bekerja dengan dilindungi kebebasan pers. Prinsip ini juga diusung Anonymous sehingga tidak mungkin pelaku di balik pembajakan adalah kelompok Anonymous…”, kurang lebih begitulah kesimpulan sederhananya. By sorting through thousands of pieces of publicly available data–from Middle East newspapers to Iraqi-dissident news–Stratfor analysts developed a theory that the attacks were actually designed to mask a failed U.S.-backed coup. In two striking, contrarian intelligence briefs released on the Internet on Jan. 5 and Jan. 6, Stratfor argued that Saddam’s lightning restructuring of the Iraqi military, followed by executions of the army’s Third Corps commanders, was evidence that the coup had been suppressed. Predictably, U.S. officials said the report was wrong.” Stratfor has been purposefully misrepresented by these so-called Anons and portrayed in false light as a company which engages in activity similar to HBGary. Sabu and his crew are nothing more than opportunistic attention whores who are possibly agent provocateurs.
